Today is Solstice Day, the shortest day of the year. Tomorrow is going to be a great day for all retriever trainers, you can plan to work just a little bit longer in the extra few minutes of daylight. Enjoy the extra time!

from a UNWANTED vacation.

Thank you's

Thank you all for the support I have recieved over the weekend of loosing my grandma.
I appreciate it all very much.

JC, Cynthia, Greg, Laura, thank ya'll for the beautiful bouquet that was at Wilkerson tuesday night.
It means so much to me, and it makes one really realize that you need to live life to the fullest, and live every moment like its your last, and if you love someone, dont be afraid to tell them, it just might be the last time you see them.

Thats the only update right now, taking Wednesday off as well for the funeral
BACK TO WORK THURSDAY(: looking forward to it.

Return to Water

Message: We finished two setups on this pond, all cheaters.

Canine Tooth Clinic

I will be scheduling a morning for teeth cleaning and polishing. Give some thought to any other non-training dogs that you would like to bring. A few tough cases will also be getting an enamel coating to help prevent a buildup of tartar. I will send the details at a later time.

Training Schedule - Week of Dec 15

Dec 15-19. Regular training days, but will be doing yard work until 10:30am. First training setup will be at 11am. Warmer weather forecast for Dec 15-16-17 means water setups, so bring your wet weather pants and boots as well as a towel for the dogs.

Dec 20. 8:30-noon.

Training Continues

We had lots of cool weather since early November but the next few days will be warm and wet.

Tulip Update

I took Tulip to Raleigh for her Rehab session, and Dr. Jones said her stretching was great and she seemed perfectly happy (which is not unusual). And made me look good too(: Then on saturday i returned her to Mr. Ray and Ms. Cindy so she can go to Baltimore for a 10:30 a.m. appt. on monday. So im hoping all goes well and this is helping me decide for the long run if to take some courses and get my official license... ((:

ohh boyy. still gotta lotta thinkin left to do.

Green Monster Update

We finally had some conditions on Monday that provided our first distinct advantage in favor of the Green Monster. We had a howling crosswind with the gun station approximately 200yds from the line. The guns reported the Green Monster was considerably louder than the Mega whiste in those conditions.

From a usability standpoint, I find there are two factors that get my attention. First, it is difficult to leave the whistle in your mouth unless you are holding it. Second, the volume of the whistle seems to be causing my ears to ring long after the training day has ended, especially on days where we run allot of blinds. Both can be managed, but are differences noted vs. the Mega Whistle.

i will be traveling to raleigh around 1pm for tulips rehab session and i get my first analysis on how im doing (:
ive taken my job with her very seriosly and im looking more and more closer at this for another career opportunity, so im hoping that all will be well (: thanks to all my supporters

the training days are getting colder.
but lucky for me i had a tent on saturday (: (insider john, george, jerry) and we got finished JUST IN TIME, when the rain decieded to set in, and it just stopped last night.
so hopefully other than monday, it should be dry.

Tulip.

On Thursday, following school i will be traveling to raleigh to take ms. tulip to her rehab specialists, and hoping to gain a little more knowledge (: on my newest career...
all is going well with her at home, her appetite is very healthy, her and foxy (my beagle) are bestfriends, and she sees the sunlight during the day...
I really enjoy working with her and helping her day by day. it is an absoloute pleasure.

Saturday Training Group

Our first Saturday training group of the year was a cold one, but everyone we got through allot of training and still found time for lunch!

Vet Day - Dec 4 at 9:00am

Dr. Jernigan and vet tech Brandi will be will be at the kennel on Thursday, Dec 4 at 9:00am to update all the dogs on annual vaccinations and health exams. If you have any other dogs or cats at home that require annual shots, including rabies, email me before Dec 1 so I can put you on the list.

Training Schedule Nov 24-29

With US Thanksgiving upon us, the training schedule for this week will be:

Mon, Tues, Wed will be regular training days.

Thursday = no training.

Fri-Sat will be regular training days.

green monster

Recently Mr. Rick Vaughn and I have listened to John test out the "Green Monster" and also throw in the Mega Whistle.
They have the same sound tone but the Mega is just much easier to realize that it is a whistle.
It is apparent that it is going to take a lot of time to get used to, especially for the older dogs, any opinions or views on whistle choices?

K-9 Rehabilitation.

heyy ya'll cortney here (:
john's assistant trainer...i have recently began working w. tulip. A fairly young yellow dog, who had to have surgery on her shoulder.
She had a bone chip that had to be removed.
I have recently taken an interest in her rehab. and i work with her every day 3 times a day removing her harness. and working her joints that are harnessed. but i have to make sure her shoulder stays still.
Traveling with Mr. Ray Watson (Cam Too Nursery) has really sparked my interest.
goin "behind the scenes" at the rehab vet was very educational. and i would jus like to thank mr ray for giving me the opportunity to do that.


but continuing on....i am hoping to futher that as a career path but still remain at the kennels w. the training being my passion.
So any ideas or comments just let me know on that subject on what you think.
